What is Alpha-Stim?
The Alpha-Stim AID is a drug free, clinically proven, treatment for anxiety, insomnia, and depression. The device is non-invasive and offers long-lasting, cumulative relief from symptoms. Many users experience relief following their first treatment session, which can be done from the comfort of your own home.
How does it work?
Conditions such as anxiety, depression and insomnia can be caused by changes in the electric firing patterns of certain brain cells. Alpha-Stim uses safe, low amplitude electricity to target the impaired activity patterns, restoring brain activity and improving symptoms.
The Alpha-Stim device works by delivering cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) via clips attached to the ear lobes. It is not painful, and side effects are rare (occurring less than 1% of the time) and mild such as dizziness, headaches, or skin irritation at the clip site.
The device should be worn for between 20-60 minutes daily until there is a noticeable reduction in symptoms. This can take up to around 3 weeks. After this, the device can be used 2-3 times a week to maintain results.
Who can use Alpha-Stim?
Almost anyone who is suffering from the symptoms of anxiety, insomnia or depression can use these devices. However, it should be noted that although there is no theoretical risk of using this device during pregnancy, the safety of doing so has not been tested and therefore cannot be recommended for use during pregnancy. The Alpha-Stim device is not suitable for those with implanted pacemakers and implanted or wearable defibrillators.

*A person is ‘chronically sick or disabled’ if he or she is a person:

- with a physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effect upon his or her ability to carry out everyday activities; or
- with a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness
It does not include an elderly person who is not disabled or chronically sick or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.
